To your .gnus, add: ;; Emacs should always decrypt and verify emails ;; automatically (setq mm-verify-option 'always) (setq mm-decrypt-option 'always) (setq gnus-buttonized-mime-types '("multipart/encrypted" "multipart/signed")) I also have a slightly more complex setup that allows me to specify the type of signature I want to use on outgoing mail (i.e. inline, MIME, or none) on a per-group basis.
