Hello, I'm searching for a software package to remotely administer apt-get. For example select which packages to be installed on a certain host or group of hosts, so that those packages are automaticly installed.
This would be handy if you got multiple computers to manage and want to install or delete a software package. Or install a new version of a certain package because of a bugfix. A possible way would be to write a script that uses ssh to start apt-get on the remote host, but this wouldn't be of much use when the hosts are turned off. Red carpet seems to be an option, but i couldn't find out if it works with apt repositories. Did anyone use red carpet on Debian in a multi computer enviroment? Or are there any apt specific tools?
