This is an X module, not a kernel module, so no, you did not miss loading this module. I can't explain why XF86Config-4 would expect to find an i810 module if that module is not on your system, unless you copied the XF86Config-4 file from elsewhere rather than letting the normal installation process create it.

For right now, I'd suggest running "dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86" and changing i810 to VESA. Once that provides you with a GUI, you can then track down the problem with the i810 module. (This assumes you have not modified the XF86Config-4 file by hand.)
