Hello, I'm running a sid/unstable system with devfs+devfsd and kernel 2.6.3. I've got both kudzu and discover running, with basically their default configurations.
I recently switched back to devfs+devfsd from a non-devfs configuration (I had some issues with the non-devfs setup). I've generally used devfs in the past just fine; however, I've noticed that it doesn't always do things as "automagically" as one might expect. Without devfs, discover seemed to find my parallel port and load the printer driver. However, with devfs+devfsd enabled, it doesn't seem to load the parport_pc and lp drivers, and so all of my CUPS jobs just get queued up. I have to add both "parport_pc" and "lp" to /etc/modules, which seems like a ham-fisted solution. Is there a way to make the module loading automatic and have boot-time hardware detection work a little more nicely with devfs? Thanks! -Rob -- * Rob French - SDG * http://www.fulcrum99.net/ * http://fulcrum99.livejournal.com/ * GPG fingerprint = 9296 627F 9D12 0C38 1946 C94F A7E9 C6C8 2B3C 7FE3 -- * Rob French - SDG * http://www.fulcrum99.net/ * http://fulcrum99.livejournal.com/ * GPG fingerprint = 9296 627F 9D12 0C38 1946 C94F A7E9 C6C8 2B3C 7FE3
