Hi Edward,
I've copied your cron script, replacing the existing /etc/cron.d/f-prot-installer, but I still get the following messages by e-mail at 4:27 and 16:27:
Subject: Cron <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> root if [ -x /usr/lib/f-prot/tools/check-updates ];
then /usr/lib/f-prot/tools/check-updates -cron -quiet; fi
Message body: /bin/sh: -c: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token `then' /bin/sh: -c: line 1: `root if [ -x /usr/lib/f-prot/tools/check-updates ]; then /usr/lib/f-prot/tools/check-updates -cron -quiet; fi'
I give up! But thanks for your reply,
Did you add that to /etc/crontab, or did you do "crontab -e"? /etc/crontab: minute hour day month day-of-week user command
other crontab files (edited with "crontab -e"): minute hour day month day-of-week command
And, can you run the command manually from a command prompt? (the exact command as is specified in the crontab file)
Perhaps you can show us the /etc/cron.d/f-prot-installer cronscript. (Or whatever you are using?)
