Hello *, I am having a heck of a time trying to install Woody on a Dell Poweredge 2600 with a LSI Logic / Symbios Logic (formerly NCR) 53C1030 SCSI adapter. This machine DOES NOT have a RAID controller.
I have used the bf24 boot option from the Woody CD and have extracted the mptbase.o and mptscsih.o modules onto a floppy but they fail to load using the "Preload modules from floppy" option. mptbase.o reports "no device found" and mptscsih.o (of course) complains about unresolved symbols due to mptbase.o's failure to load. Using a Fedora CD I have verified that these are the correct modules for this card and under Debian the hardware is listed in /proc/pci. I came across some posts on this list about a year ago in regards to using a 2.4.20-bf2.4 boot floppy from http://people.debian.org/~blade/bf3024 but that directory is no longer accessible. Can anyone suggest where I can get the 2.4.20-bf2.4 boot floppy or any other suggestions on how to solve this problem?
