Try running under root.  I've seen some permissions problems.

Note very carefully your configuration.  dosemu is particularly
sensitive to what disks are configured, and how.  The virtual hard drive
can be an image file, a partition, or a directory.  Floppies must be
either a real floppy or an image.  Directories apparently don't work.

You _should_ have a symlink to your freedos installation from
/var/lib/dosemu.

Kill the window directly, <ctrl>-C from the controlling terminal.  I'm
not aware of any magic key sequence to kill, though I seem to recall one
for switching to another terminal if running in console mode.
