For standard uml you don't need guest kernel support. IIRC host kernel support is only needed to get uml to run faster (I don't remember the specifics). It will even allow you to run a kernel that thinks its running on an smp system (It ground to a halt with 32 virtual cpus on my system but with 8 cpus it ran just fine ;-) It does have a problem with direct hardware support and you will have a problem with live cds since the uml kernel needs to be compiled with uml support. You could probably run a uml kernel that uses the live cd as the file system though. You can run all the specific install scripts since you are running inside your own file system (file system in a file ;-). Will probably need to set up networking though or access your local file system from the uml file system and download the packages there. > > -- > Joel Konkle-Parker > Webmaster [Ballsome.com] > > E-mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] > Phone [662-518-1636] > > > -- > To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] > with a subject of "unsubscribe".
