Thank you for your two calm, thoughtful replies. They addressed my expectations and the problems I encountered perfectly. However, despite the message and its entirely reasonable interpretation, I find it unlikely that this is a case of “running out of RAM.” I carefully followed the installation instructions on Debian 13 Stable, which is supported, using the latest version available. It’s true that installing from source offers a degree of reassurance and gives you a strong case to present to the developers if something goes wrong. In my humble opinion, and based on experience, it’s better to wait for a package that has been tested and is maintained by my distribution, Debian. It’s up to the developers whether they make that effort. If that hasn’t happened since 2021, perhaps this is still a trial or a work in progress, and, out of caution, it may not be advisable to use something experimental. It’s also possible that this is merely a demonstration or a proof of concept, pending a real investment and a financial commitment. That’s just my personal opinion, of course.
