Since the upgrade to trixie, I have been experiencing video issues on my main desktop machine (where "video issues" means anything between broken rendering and full lock-ups).

When I run nvidia-detect:

----

[ZB:~] nvidia-detect
Detected NVIDIA GPUs:
04:00.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] [10de:0de1] (rev a1)

Checking card: NVIDIA Corporation GF108 [GeForce GT 430] (rev a1)
Your card is only supported by the 390 legacy drivers series, which is only available up to bullseye.
[ZB:~]

----

I'm unsure what driver is being used, but whatever it is, it seems that I need to change it to something that works better.

I have turned off hardware acceleration in firefox and thunderbird, but that doesn't seem to have helped (maybe there's a system-wide setting to turn off hardware acceleration, but if so I haven't been able to find it).

Any suggestions as to how to proceed would be gratefully received. (Maybe I have to buy a new video card?)
