I don't even need Konsole or Dolphin ? I just need something where the
desktop is displayed as a starting point.
I am running a kind of minimal KDE desktop. I have
APT::Install-Recommends "0";
in /etc/apt/apt.conf.d and "plasma-desktop" installed (not
"kde-plasma-desktop" as recommended in <https://wiki.debian.org/KDE>). I
had to install some packages from Recommends to avoid various issues. So
it is necessary to spend some time to get working system.
I think, you can install another terminal app instead of konsole. I use
it however due to some features missed e.g. in xterm: search in current
buffer, quick switch between dark and light background profiles, tabs,
and rewrap on window resize.
I have not tried to use KDE without dolphin, despite I do not like that
it has hard dependency on baloo file indexer (disabled by default in
Debian).
Sorry, I do not have an answer for you but a question: if you have a
fresh install of KDE with X11, not KDE with Wayland, does logout work
properly or do you have a 30 seconds interval between the moment you
choose to log out and the moment it starts closing?
There is 30 seconds timeout in logout confirm dialog to give user a
chance to cancel unintended action. I do not have a fresh install
machine, but I have not noticed an issue in an upgraded VM. I expect to
see some complains from systemd in "journalctl --user" on next login or
by watching combined "sudo journalctl -f" during logout.
