This seems actually more complex, in particular if GRUB 2.12 still doesn't support LUKS2: https://cryptsetup-team.pages.debian.net/cryptsetup/encrypted-boot.html I notice that https://savannah.gnu.org/bugs/?55093 (LUKS2 support) is still open. There is another issue: at least with another machine (which has the same /boot and initrd.img-* size issue), I would like to be able to unlock the disk via SSH (so that I can restart the machine remotely).
