The next release of Debian is actively being worked on and has already had several thousand package uploads. > I am very interested in staying updated Such things are announced on the front page of the Debian web site, and by email on debian-news and debian-announce, and in micronews at https://micronews.debian.org/ which has an RSS feed, and on various social networks. Debian major releases don't happen on a fixed schedule. It's more organic than that, and just tends to be when enough developers feel it is time to consider a firm plan be made. You can look at the number of days between previous releases and draw some conclusions: https://wiki.debian.org/DebianReleases#Release_statisticso from which they guess, "about two years after the last one".
