That language is simply stating which proprietary (non-free) kernel driver

notice it with "do not use packaged version" preface, that is the reason
why I am avoiding it.

There is a chance that booting with the display port adapter
disconnected, starting
sudo journalctl -f
and connecting the adapter might be "less noisy".
Firmware packages might be changed between bookworm and trixie. File
search is available on https://packages.debian.org
I took note, and have no idea whether working 340 drivers ever
even existed for Bookworm. He may have had no other choice but pure FOSS.
I have no idea what drivers and firmware are used for this hardware in
bookworm.
Several years ago I had a custom dkms package for legacy nvidia drivers
to use it with newer kernel (unrelated to Apple hardware though). I
found an extra patch on some forum. That driver, already unsupported by
the vendor, worked a bit better than nouveau. I have not idea if
somebody still have patches to make drivers compatible with current
kernel API or it is impossible any more.
Is it possible to inspect Debian 12 bookworm configuration using a live
media and try to replicate it for currently installed trixie?
