dyndns and similar services map a domain name to an IP address when they get a notification from your desktop (or whereever the dyndns client is running) that the IP address has changed. If you are trying to ssh in during a time between when the IP address has changed and when the client notifies dyndns, it will fail. The first questions, then: what machine is notifying dyndns? what software is it using for that? how does it detect a new IP address? how often does it run?
