Hi, I'm using an ATI Rage 129 Pro Graphics card with no problems with the 2.4.23 kernel and and xserver-xfree8 4.2.1-15. I tried the same sith the 2.6.0 kernel and I get an error with the fbdevhw sub module of ati which is "unable to find a valid framebuffer device". The complete log-file and lsmod can be seen below, I've also included XF86config.
Anyone know what I'm missing, perhaps an additional module, or someting in the config file? Thanks for any help you can give me, Chris ============================================================ k6:/home/stoffel# lsmod Module Size Used by md5 3968 1 ipv6 223936 8 kernelcapi 44320 0 parport_pc 32940 1 lp 10176 0 parport 39400 2 parport_pc,lp apm 16748 1 scanner 21764 0 ipt_limit 2560 2 ipt_state 2048 27 ipt_LOG 5248 2 ipt_REJECT 6272 2 ip_conntrack_ftp 71988 0 ip_conntrack 30128 2 ipt_state,ip_conntrack_ftp iptable_filter 2944 1 ip_tables 16256 5 ipt_limit,ipt_state,ipt_LOG,ipt_REJECT,iptable_filter uhci_hcd 29456 0 ohci_hcd 16768 0 ehci_hcd 21380 0 usbcore 98652 6 scanner,uhci_hcd,ohci_hcd,ehci_hcd evdev 8704 0 evbug 3072 0 nls_cp437 5888 2 vfat 14208 1 fat 41280 1 vfat aty128fb 13952 0 sg 33048 0 sr_mod 14756 0 cdrom 31392 1 sr_mod ide_scsi 13700 0 scsi_mod 108856 3 sg,sr_mod,ide_scsi 8139too 22528 0 mii 4864 1 8139too crc32 4608 1 8139too es1370 32556 0 soundcore 8896 1 es1370 gameport 4736 1 es1370 rtc 11960 0 ext3 103208 1 jbd 53912 1 ext3 ide_disk 15872 4 via82cxxx 13084 1 [unsafe] ide_probe_mod 15872 0 [unsafe] ide_mod 133420 4 ide_scsi,ide_disk,via82cxxx,ide_probe_mod unix 25520 22 font 8576 0 cfbcopyarea 3968 1 aty128fb cfbimgblt 3328 1 aty128fb cfbfillrect 3712 1 aty128fb ================================================================== XFree86.log......
