This is an outright falsehood. There are just as many, if not more, MS Windows oriented user groups/communities as there are for GNU/Linux. Granted, tech support is still expensive.



Whereas here you get community and free help, and can _also_ buy books and
tech support.  If what you are getting for free isn't good enough try
offering money.

I think the same is true of the MS Windows world. The difference is that with GNU/Linux, and free software in general, the end user and tech support have a much greater sphere of influence because of the ability to directly patch and modify the source of a particular app.
