It will support i386 packages but will not have an i386 installer or kernel. You could install bookworm and dist-upgrade to it, leaving you with an old and (explicitly instead of effectively) unmaintained kernel. If your device supports an amd64 kernel then I think you are much better off switching to that kernel in-place while using bookworm and then letting it dist-upgrade to trixie.
