There are 15 files in Var and the biggest one is the cache file. Is it safe to get rid of the contents of the whole file.  It takes up  57% of the drive.

First, find out where the space is being used.  Something like baobab
might be useful.  It might the apt cache directory, or some gigantic log
file, or some file you placed there and forgot.
