Thanks for your perspective, Max -- I can confirm regrettably it's not
iwlwifi by itself, since I still see:

Frustrating, since I mass memtest and gsmartcontrol tests on all the
RAM and drives, but something's up...

Might be a specific issue with this motherboard.
