And from the people I know from the South, and having been to Idaho, I'd say if you really want to go for the overpowering, stereotypical southerner, go to Idaho. Replace wife-beaters with flannel and an Albertan accent instead of a southern drawl. I saw more than one GEO Metro with a gun rack in Couer d'Alane. Granted, though, my experience of southerners is fairly limited to fairly well-off tourists visiting Portland, and a friend of mine who used to be radio personality "Jim Dandy" on some 100 kilowatt FM country-music station in Oxford, MS, so my perception is likely skewed comically. - -- .''`.
