For some weird reason, it seems that said mouse is hitting a "braille device"
entry in the USB database?

Either the database is in error, or the mouse vendor is cheating, doesn't want
to pay their fees to the consortium and is stealing an ID.

This, at least, is my hunch.

Gene, if you want to do us a favour: do a "sudo lsusb -vv" and show us the
entry which corresponds to the mouse (the output to the command above is *long*,
so be careful).
