Although that works, and I removed the Brother drivers with localhost:631, I
still get:

E: The package brscan4 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive
for it.
comp@Abanormal:~$
This looks as if brscan4's source has been removed but not the
the package itself.
As David Wright, I'd propose purging it (sudo apt-get purge brscan4),
instead of re-installing it, if you are happy with your driverless
setup.
Cheers
A scan of the OS found 6 brscan4 files that were not removed by sudo apt-get
purge brscan4.
Is it safe for me to deleted those files, or will I corrupt the OS?
Please advise, thanKs in advance.
