Try booting with Live CD and see if the problem still exists. If the
streaks are still there with the live CD then it is likely a hardware
issue. If the streaks do not exist with the live CD then it is a software

It seems highly probable it's hardware but anyway for now the laptop
is laid aside as I try to domesticate a new ASUS Zenbook 14 OLED. I
may attempt a repair some other time (unlikely).
Wrestling with Windows 11 and 'secure boot/bitlocker'. Got reconstruct
how to get around them to set up a Debian partition.
