I'd go for (B), especially if you're continuing to do daily backups, so the oldest backup with an alternating pattern is 2 days. I do daily backups to a permanently-connected drive (I used to use rsnapshot for that, then rdiff-backup, now I use borg); monthly syncs of that drive to one of two external drives (rsync of the borg repository), which live off-site and I alternate those.
