I had an excellent Epson Stylus Color 640, later a HP deskjet 845c and a HP Officejet Pro K550. All they do now is gather dust. I print less and less, and when I need to print a page I use the self service scanner/printers available in post offices here in France. €0.30 per page black and white, €0.50 for colour.
