Not so off topic.

I once ran an Android simulator that required a google account, on my laptop in 
a KVM VM, as a test for running a program that could only be run on an Android 
Mobile phone. 

The concept worked but only because my laptop had a AMD graphics, required by 
the VM graphics. It did not work on Nvidia cards (but as the saying goes, "that 
was then, but this is now", things in IT sometimes change).

I expect an authenticator would run in that Android simulator.

I did this recently for a friend, but once the need no longer existed, it seems 
I deleted the VM.

Hopefully there is a simpler way to run an authenticator.
