It was also a demonstration of a huge vulnerability. If $EvilActor were to get an agent employed at CrowdStrike/whoever then they could take down a lot of important infrastructure world wide. This could give them a great advantage if done, for instance, just before they invade another country or something. In a cynical moment on Friday I did wonder if this was a dry run.
