This is indeed a regrettable outcome to a good-faith suggestion. One is led to wonder at times why you technical (the term used quite loosely in your case) people prove to be so often such intolerable asswipes, but I'm not losing much sleep over it, though the higher echelons of your generally uncultured ilk seem to be ruling what's left of the world. I'm sure, though, that the latter will continue on despite everything, while the former will lie sooner or later permanently horizontal.
