 The "dri" approach from sourceforge.net will work fine for your
 card. The other approach mentioned in the previous message uses the
 binary provided by the ati company (binary only). In my case, I am
 using a ati radeon 9800, for this card there is no "open dri", so I
 am stuck with the binary, which is a pain due to conflicting
 xlibmesaxxxx related (I solved this by putting a = (hold) to it). If
 you can use dri, go for it, don't worry about the binary from
 ati. The other solution is to use the "vesa" driver, that seems to
 work always (?), but whose output in my case is not very good.
