Has that worked in the past … on previous Debians … on the originally installed OS? Do you see any reaction in the logs (daemon.log and syslog) when you press that function key? Does xev show a XF86WLAN keysym occurring (or anything)? Presumably as there's a function key, there's no button on the laptop, as commonly found on ones old enough. Cheers, David.
