First: what security issues? If you know of a problem in libdb, have you reported it to the package maintainer? Here's the bug page for it: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/pkgreport.cgi?dist=stable;package=libdb5.3 You cannot remove libdb and have a usable Debian system; apt-utils depends on it. -dsr-
