My experience with Homebrew on MacOS was not that flattering. It only
supported x86_64, and not i686 or PowerPC. If you needed software on
i686 or PowerPC, then you had to use MacPorts.

Homebrew only supports the last release or two on MacOS. Today, you
might see support for Version 13: "Ventura" and Version 12:
"Monterey". Anything else and you had to use MacPorts.

I would definitely avoid Homebrew.
