Marking sections of VRAM bad isn't something I've ever heard of doing. If you have a discrete graphics card rather than one included in motherboard or CPU, VRAM is microsoldered to the board, so a very difficult problem to replace. If an IGPU is sharing socketed system RAM, then replacing is an option.
