Yes. It's a common occurrence, and trivial to deal with - if you have physical access to the computer or disk. And if you have such access then that password isn't actually protecting anything you couldn't do without the password. If you google "linux forgotten root password" then you will find these techniques are explained all over the web, e.g. Redhat's site, Arch wiki etc. -- Tixy
