I had to do this for a recently purchased Dell laptop with Intel NIC on-board. Worked just fine this way but wouldn't install without the non-free firmware as it couldn't find the network. -- Eric S Fraga with org 9.5.2 in Emacs 29.0.50 on Debian 11.2
