Even when everyone in the corp uses a Microsoft client to read their mail, it still may be served internally with Pop/IMAP. Microsoft email software is not cheap. Of course many corps use Google mail and it can be used privately, internally. Interactive messaging and meeting is highly important today: Slack, Bluejeans, skype, Microsoft Teams.....
