Do not guess.  Do not assume defaults are in place.  Just find out.

Now you're mixing tcsh and bash commands, and you're getting it wrong
for both shells.

If it turns out you're in bash, then what you want is:

export AUDIODEV=plughw:CARD=ICH5,DEV=0
