Just clone the git repository.
This will give you a .deb package (and a .dsc too). You don't risk much, but I'd still suggest you use the stable LTS tree with 5.10.37 You can easily revert if needed and there ain't any risk that it does break something. If you want to really play safe, boot into single user mode with root read-only ( use init=/bin/bash in the kernel boot options).
