It depends. For example on the machine at home with LSI adapter that provides the speed of SATA II I do not see any benefit of using SSD except power saving, but when you calculate the power saved it does not cover the extra cost of the SSD. I use the WD RED 3.5" which is forced into SATA 2. It is simple mathematics.
