I would say that you are thus probably setting the hostname of the installer itself instead of the hostname of the final guest machine. Perhaps replacing hostname=try05 by d-i:hostname=try05 or d-i:netcfg/get_hostname=try05 would be better cf https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/amd64/apbs02.en.html#preseed-bootparms
