Why not trot over to Shorewall's site and spend a bit of time looking at the documentation? It's pretty nice. (Actually, it may already be on your computer in /usr/share/doc/shorewall ...) I don't think shorewall will initiate your ppp connection, though. It burps here when the interfaces aren't all up.
