The 2.4 kernel from the Woody install had no problems, and I had about 26MB
transfer rate. The 2.6-test9 and 2.6-test11 kernels don't let me set pio
mode or dma at all, and my transfer rate is about 7MB.

Is this a bug, or did I do something wrong in the installation? I have dma
selected in the kernel configuration.

Using hdparm as root, I get:
        HDIO_SET_DMA failed: Operation not permitted
when trying to set dma, and
        HDIO_SET_PIO_MODE failed: Function not implemented
when trying to set pio mode.
