Thank you to everyone for your help! I just added the "snd_hda_intel.probe_mask=0x01" permanently to grub and it seems to be working fine.
It's actually preferable to not have the HDMI audio work because I'd normally have plugged in speakers through the microphone anyway and this way I don't have to change the audio settings every time. At least Jessie would make me do that.
