To compile the kernel itself, it is unnecessary, but some third-party modules expect the source to be in /usr/src/linux in order to compile

Ah! I didn't know that. So in this case, I guess I should make that link whenever I compile a kernel. I just compiled it again and figured out what were the problems. I will list what I did to solve them in a separate message.
