push/popd are helpful when a tree structured file system is present. Are they in POSIX? Best avoided?
They are not POSIX, I don't think they are covered by any subsequent standard either (great opportunity for anyone who wants to contribute to a future standard I guess!). Originally from csh, they are present in bash and zsh too, at least; but not dash (by design) and likely not posh. -- ⢀⣴⠾⠻⢶⣦⠀ ⣾⠁⢠⠒⠀⣿⡁ Jonathan Dowland ⢿⡄⠘⠷⠚⠋⠀ https://jmtd.net ⠈⠳⣄⠀⠀⠀⠀ Please do not CC me, I am subscribed to the list.
