I was with you up until you said this. How does this change anything? The general election is the one that counts. The only time you throw away your vote is if you vote for what you believe to be a lesser candidate and try to justify it by saying you're throwing your vote away otherwise. Claiming victory when they get to this point instead of backing them up through the general elections is counterproductive. 2) Not all parties hold primaries.
