Please don't do that. > Debian claims to be *20* MAJOR releases *AHEAD* of source. No, 46.1 is the Debian version number of the metapackage. 26 is the version number of a version of emacs itself. Currently, Debian is giving us emacs24 in stable, as Dan said. Cheers, David.
