Thanks! when i install 9.4, security update is automatically installed i suspect security update is cause of trouble in 9.3 i don't have security update

After a reboot I wasn't able to get X and could not detect why that was happening as xorg.log showed no errors! Going back to the previous: Linux mcmini-4_1-deb 4.14.0-0.bpo.3-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.14.13-1~bpo9+1 \ (2018-01-14) x86_64 GNU/Linux solved the empasse. Hope this helps.
