I've updated kernels on all but one of my systems using the backported 2.4.18-12 kernel from the Debian archives. No problems (that I'm aware of yet....).
The remaining system is a Mocha P4 based on the Mini-ITX mobo form
factor. It includes two onboard Ethernet controllers and an SIS
graphics card, which are causing me problems:

Neither the Intel 82540EM (e1000) nor Realtek (8139too) controllers are
supported in 2.4.18. Sort of cramps the internal LAN, particularly
bridging segments.
The SIS card appears to cause build problems:

I've found some references to this on the LKML dating back to 2.4.18
(build errors through five releases of a stable kernel?). And a
reference to

...which has a large number of drivers available, under

...though I can't tell which is/are the one(s) I want.
If anyone has guidance on this, I'd appreciate tips.
Alternatively, a Debian build of 2.4.23 (official or otherwise) would be
very helpful, and I doubt I'm the only one.... I've heard rumors of
same, but nothing's turned up publicly that I'm aware.
